2021 Staff Appreciation Virtual Scavenger Hunt

A virtual scavenger hunt for staff to have some fun safely while we return to work.

BEGINS: Monday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m.
ENDS:   Thursday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m.

THE RULES

  • Staff members from campus, Health Sciences, UCI Medical Center and all UCI ambulatory health care locations are eligible to participate.
  • All team members must be STAFF. Sorry, faculty members and academic personnel are not eligible.
  • Teams may be formed from staff in any UCI school, department, location or office, with a minimum of two staff members per team and a maximum of 10 staff members per team.
  • Multiple teams from the same location are permitted, but individual staff members may only compete on one team for the contest.
  • Submit photos, team member names and UCI emails using this form: SUBMISSION FORM
  • By registering your team, all team members are granting permission to use their image/photos on the Staff Appreciation Week web pages, HR web pages, UCI web pages, and the Staff Assembly website and social media.
  • On Monday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m., get the list of “items to be scavenged” on this page.
  • Between October 11, 12:00 p.m., and October 14, 3:00 p.m., take pictures of “scavenged items” with at least one team member in each photo and upload them to the Scavenger Hunt form.
  • All entries must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on October 14 to be included in the opportunity drawing for prizes.
  • On Friday, October 15, there will be two teams (one from campus teams and one from the Medical Center/Health Sciences teams) chosen at random as the winners of the Scavenger Hunt from all teams who find 12 of the items on the list. These team will receive a $15 Amazon e-gift for each member of their team. e-Cards will be emailed to UCI addresses only.
  • In addition, there will be a Grand Prize team winning team, chosen at random from all teams who find all 12 of the items PLUS the three extra credit items, which require the team to solve clues first. This team will receive a $25 Amazon e-card for each member of the team. e-Cards will be emailed to UCI addresses only.
  • The decisions of the judges are final.
  • Winning teams will be notified by email on Friday, October 15. The wining teams’ photos may be posted on the Staff Assembly website and social media channels.

SCAVENGER HUNT LIST

Gather pictures of the “items” below and submit them by 3pm on Thursday, October 14.

To be considered in the drawing, you must submit at least 12 scavenged items.

If you are not able to collect all 12 items in the main list, substitute one or more of the “extra credit” items to complete the collection of 12 items.

For an extra chance at prizes, collect and submit all 15 items.

Required Photo: Your members “photo-shopped” or combined into one photo.

Main list of items to scavenge (Remember there has to be at least one team member in each photo)

  1. Your favorite beverage
  2. Mask or face covering
  3. Hand sanitizer
  4. Bottle of mouthwash
  5. A pair of sweatpants or leggings
  6. Paperclips or binder clips
  7. A coffee maker or tea kettle
  8. Sticky note pad
  9. A backpack
  10. Sunglasses
  11. A take-out menu from your favorite restaurant
  12. Computer keyboard

For “extra credit” answer the clues below and submit pictures of them. These items may be used to substitute for others if you cannot find all of the 12 items listed above.

  1. What has hands, but can’t hold a thing?
  2. What can smash scissors, but gets covered by paper?
  3. What loses its head in the morning and gets it back at night?
