Back, by popular demand, we’re having another virtual scavenger hunt! Participation is optional, but it would be great to see a lot of staff join in the competition.
Begins: Monday, October 10 at 12:00 p.m.
Ends: Thursday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m.
The Rules
- Staff members from campus, Health Sciences, UCI Medical Center and all UCI ambulatory health care locations are eligible to participate.
- All team members must be STAFF. Sorry, faculty members and academic personnel are not eligible.
- Teams may be formed from staff in any UCI school, department, location or office, with a minimum of two staff members per team and a maximum of 10 staff members per team.
- Multiple teams from the same location are permitted, but individual staff members may only compete on one team for the contest.
- Submit photos, team member names and UCI emails using this form.
- By registering your team, all team members are granting permission to use their image/photos on the Staff Appreciation Week webpages, HR webpages, UCI webpages, and the Staff Assembly website.
- On Monday, October 10 at 12:00 p.m., get the list of “items to be scavenged”. The list of items will be provided below.
- Between October 10, 12:00 p.m. and October 13, 3:00 p.m., take pictures of “scavenged items” with at least one team member in each photo and upload them here. IMPORTANT: Include your team name, name of the team member shown in the photo, and the item you have scavenged in your photo caption. For example: Super Sleuths, Peter T. Anteater, UCI branded reusable water bottle.
- All entries must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on October 13 to be included in the opportunity drawing for prizes.
Prizes and Winning Teams
- On Friday, October 14, there will be two teams (one from campus teams and one from the Medical Center/Health Sciences teams) chosen at random as the winners of the Scavenger Hunt from all teams who find 10 of the items on the list. These teams will receive a $15 Amazon e-gift card for each member.
- In addition, there will be a Grand Prize winning team, chosen at random from all teams who find all 10 of the items PLUS the three extra credit items, which will require the team to solve clues first. This team will receive a $25 Amazon e-gift card for each member.
- The decisions of the judges are final.
- E-gift cards will be emailed to UCI email addresses only.
- Winning teams will be posted on the Staff Appreciation Week Scavenger Hunt web page and the Staff Assembly website on Friday, October 14, and winning teams will be notified by email.
Scavenger Hunt List
Gather pictures of the “items” below and submit them here by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13. To be considered in the drawing, you must submit at least 10 scavenged items. If you are not able to collect all 10 items in the main list, substitute one or more of the “extra credit” items to complete the collection of 10 items. For an extra chance at prizes, collect and submit all 13 items.

- Find a person who has worked in your office the longest
- Find the newest person to join your office
- Take a picture with the tallest tree you can find
- Selfie with Peter the Anteater
- A newspaper or magazine
- Tape dispenser
- Exit sign
- Piece of workout equipment
- Sock with a hole in it
For “extra credit”, answer the clues below and submit pictures of them. These items may be used to substitute for others if you cannot find all of the 10 items listed above.
- I’m over you on a rainy day, close me, or I might blow away.
- I have blades but I’m not a knife. Want to cool down? Give me a whirl.
- You can run with the clues, but don’t run with me! Rock beats me every time.
