Melinda Alvarez began her career at UCI more than 10 years ago in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. She is currently the deputy chief of staff in the Office of the Chancellor. In this role, she serves as a conduit for highly sensitive/timely information, messages, actions, and direction between the chancellor and the vice chancellors, Chancellor’s Cabinet, Chancellor’s Advisory Council, UC Regents, and the campus community. She oversees the management of Tierney University House, including official events welcoming more than 2,500 guests a year to the chancellor’s residence.
