The Staff Appreciation Picnic is an annual event hosted by Staff Assembly, a council dedicated to supporting and developing activities serving staff at UCI. The picnic is planned and led entirely by volunteer staff who donate their time to make it a memorable experience.
Campus, UCI Medical Center (UCIMC) and UCI Health staff are welcome!
This year’s picnic is all about being together, recognizing and appreciating staff while sharing a meal. Please plan to attend and enjoy time together.
What to expect this year
- Tables, chairs, and umbrellas will be provided and set up by Signature Rental before staff arrive at the picnic (please refrain from bringing pop-up canopies, generators or BBQ grills)
- Extended food service time from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to allow for more flexibility for a 2-hour lunch break
- The return of traditional picnic games: three-legged race and water “balloon” toss
- No vendor or informational booths
- This is a zero-waste event – we encourage everyone to bring their own reusable plate, utensils and beverage container (no large to-go containers); water fill-up stations and recyclable plates, utensils and cups will be available

- Southwest Salad (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free)
- Potato Salad (Contains regular mayonnaise & egg yolks; Vegetarian, Gluten-free)
- BBQ Baked Beans (Not Vegetarian; Not Vegan; Gluten-free)
- Limited supply of Portobello Mushrooms for Vegetarians and Vegans (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free)

- Dessert will be provided by SchoolsFirst
Parking
Parking in the Anteater Parking Structure will be available for staff picnic attendees. If possible, please coordinate with other staff attendees to carpool to the picnic. Below is pertinent information for the Park By Plate code to register your vehicle in case you do not already have a valid UCI parking permit.

Shuttle Transportation
From UCI Research Park: Shuttles will begin running at 10:30 a.m. and run approximately every 20 minutes between 100 Theory in UCI Research Park and the flagpoles by Aldrich loop. The last pick-up time from the flagpoles for a return to 100 Theory is 3:00 p.m.
From UCIMC (200 Manchester Building Parking Lot): Shuttles will follow the schedules below, but traffic between the locations might increase the travel times:
