The UCI Staff Assembly Education and Enrichment Committee is excited to provide a virtual experience for a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, also known as Chado. The session will be led by, Tam Schumann, who will provide a presentation on the ceremony’s history, its meditative philosophy, and how it can help instill calmness and present-moment awareness.
If you would like to follow along during the tea ceremony demonstration, you will need the following items:
- A small bowl in which you can whisk the tea (tea cups are not used)
- A bamboo whisk
- A spoon (the smaller the better)
- Matcha (powdered green tea)
- Boiling water
- A sweet (confectionary)
